Solar PV
Utility-scale and industrial solar, developed on realistic capture rates and curtailment economics rather than spreadsheet optimism.
Energy and digital infrastructure
Treehouse Energy develops and invests in solar, battery storage and digital infrastructure in the Netherlands. We build the places where clean power and compute meet.
What we do
Utility-scale and industrial solar, developed on realistic capture rates and curtailment economics rather than spreadsheet optimism.
Grid-scale BESS with revenue stacking across day-ahead, intraday and ancillary markets. Sized, financed and dispatched by our own models.
Data centers co-located with generation and storage, engineered for the grid of the 2030s: flexible, efficient and connected where power is.
Forecasting, grid modelling and dispatch software built in-house. The same tools that shape our investment decisions run our assets.
Selected work
A selection of tools and analyses we built and run: from open grid models to live asset steering. Public projects link through.
Open PyPSA-based DC power flow model of the Dutch high-voltage grid: congestion, N-1 loading and connection feasibility per node.
View projectAnalysis of the Dutch offshore wind buildout: capture prices, hydrogen coupling and what 21 GW by 2032 does to the market.
View projectHourly Dutch power price forecasting to 2050: day-ahead, intraday and imbalance, built for BESS investment cases.
View projectQuarter-hour energy flow models (8760 h) that size power and capacity, then value the battery across day-ahead, imbalance and FCR.
ConsultingMerit-order dispatch model of the 2030 Dutch market: renewable buildout, V2G and storage against hourly demand.
ResearchInverter sizing, clipping and EPEX-weighted yield, plus live PV curtailment on imbalance prices via inverter gateways.
ConsultingWhere a battery earns its money
| Market | Product | Timescale | Role in the stack |
|---|---|---|---|
| Day-ahead | EPEX hourly auction | D-1 | Baseline arbitrage on the daily spread |
| Intraday | Continuous trading | Hours ahead | Repositioning as forecasts sharpen |
| Imbalance | Passive balancing | Real time | Highest volatility, highest skill premium |
| FCR / aFRR | Reserve capacity | Weekly / daily auctions | Steady capacity income between spreads |
Why integrated
The energy transition and the compute buildout are the same story. Power-hungry digital infrastructure strains the grid when it stands alone. Developed together with generation and storage, it becomes part of the solution.
We develop where the grid has room, informed by our own congestion and power flow modelling.
Batteries and flexible IT load turn volatile electricity prices into margin instead of risk.
Generation, storage and load optimized together outperform each of them optimized alone.
Our approach
We find sites and grid positions others overlook, using data before brokers.
Permits, grid connection and design, carried by people who model the physics themselves.
Investment cases built on market fundamentals to 2050, stress-tested, not sold.
Delivery with proven EPC and technology partners, specified to the component level.
Our own software trades, dispatches and monitors every asset we bring online.
About Treehouse Energy
Treehouse Energy is a Dutch energy and infrastructure developer. Our team combines power systems engineering, electricity market trading, project development and IT infrastructure. We model before we invest, and we operate what we build.
Co-founder
Power systems engineering and energy markets. MSc Electrical Engineering, TU Eindhoven.
The wider team
Around the founders sits a working network of EPC partners, grid specialists, financiers and IT engineers, brought together per project.
Research
Our methods trace back to peer-reviewed and university research in power electronics and energy markets.
We partner with landowners, grid operators, investors and technology suppliers. If our worlds overlap, we would like to hear from you.
